Makin Music on Monday

Makin' Music on Monday

We woke up Monday morning ready to start makin' some music! The morning began with a passionate and rousing devotion from Dr.Lynn Brinkley of Campbell University Divinity School. She encouraged the students to to think about the words of Micah 6:8 and 2 Chronicles 7:14. And to act justly and speak boldly about injustices happening in our world today. On that "note" we began the day!

Back at it in the choir room for the 2nd day, some fun body and vocal warm-ups prepared the All-Staters for the long day of singing ahead. It was exciting over the course of the day to see the light-bulb turn on in many of the All-Staters - especially some of the first-years. Through devotions, testimony, and exploration of the various texts, connections were starting to be made with various songs.

And as always, a little sectional rehearsal time is a good change of pace! And especially helpful for those who may have "forgotten" to look at their music before this week. I know that no returning or former All-Staters would ever do that!

And I just included some pictures of our fearless leaders striking a power pose for your visual enjoyment!

During free time in the afternoon, some All-Staters chose to gallivant around Campbell's campus, others grabbed some coffee, and still others auditioned for the talent show or for solos. Regardless, free time was a great break from rehearsal to hangout with friends - old and new!

After dinner, more rehearsals led to learning a cool song from South Africa and some group pictures!

That left just a little time for some card and various other games in the lobby before family group time and another night of little sleep!

It seems to me that already, the All-Staters are really starting to come together as a family and really care for one another. Their musicality is already very impressive and they are starting to for connections with the music.

This week sure is shaping up to be a great one!

Your Faithful All-State Blogger,

Carter
