Saturday

Spirited Saturday

And so the weekend arrived and we hit the road to to small town of Pittsboro, NC. Here we lined up along the font of the historic courthouse to sing a brief concert. Although it was extremely hot and muggy, and some of our sound equipment wasn't working, numerous passerby stopped to listen to the beautiful words and music of the choir.

We closed the concert by walking down the downtown streets singing "Walk in the Light". There is nothing like a good marching song to get ya moving! The All-Staters had some free time in Pittsboro that many spent buying coffee or some other drink while trying to get out of the heat of the day. Some cute little shops and such were also visited by the All-Staters. Then we loaded up the bus to head to Cary. It was quite an eventful bus ride as the ever-popular bingo boards came out and the games began.

After some spectacular Chick-fil-a, some of the guys decided to try out the "adventure rides" in the mall. The choo choo train was ever-popular as it approached breakneck speeds of 3mph. The wind was really whipping through the All-Staters hair and getting their heart rate up! Afterwards, they headed to the carousel, and this was not a ride to take lightly. Graham and Harrison said they were spinning over 50 revolutions a minute and Jack rated the ride, "10 out of 10 - would ride again!" The rest of the All-Staters spent their time less adventurously and walked around to various stores and did some shopping.

Later that afternoon, Glenaire Retirement Community was treated with a concert from the All-Staters. Dr. Wolfe-Hill got the All-Staters all warmed-up and ready to dance and sing!

As we have grown to love and expect, she got the residents of Glenaire moving and dancing as well!

Following the concert, there was time for some visiting with the residents of Glenaire which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

The Saturday night concert was at FBC Cary and the All-Staters were treated with the finest of service. Many former All-Staters came out and helped serve dinner, pass out programs, and welcome people to the concert. We snapped a picture to commemorate the moment!

And if you are familiar with All-State at all, you know what happens on Saturday night after returning to campus. Affectionately referred to as "cry night," the four-years, seniors, and a few others get to share words of appreciation, wisdom, and encouragement with the rest of the All-Staters. It is always a very emotional and meaningful time. Just ask an All-Stater. They probably won't be able to put it into words, but you'll be able to tell that it has a special place in each of their hearts.

Here is a picture of me being a "Media Consultant" and taking some pictures - and of the new Assistant Videographer in action! Saturday night for me is one of no sleep as I am hard at work finishing up the final week-in-review video for the All-Staters. I'll sleep on Monday!

Your Faithful All-State Blogger,
